When I first starting driving a smart fourtwo, European models were being imported into Halifax and then altered for the Canadian market once they arrived.
Club smart car was formed and owners banded together to put the “Europe” back into these cars. I restored the natural location of the turn signals, installed European OEM cruise control, added an armrest and upgrade the cars’ badges. This made my car an instant conversation starter and was fun to do.
So I was very pleased when smart offered the electric drive package on its new smart ED models. This consists of a metallic green tridion safety cell, green mirror covers and green interior accents. I was also able to get electric drive summer mats.
To take this a step further, I had sporty Brabus wheels painted in the exact metallic green colour, which really makes the car stand out at EV shows and events.
The end result, another conversation starter wherever I go. Doing this has been a great way to get people talking about electric drive vs fossil fuel.
Showing the community that change is good, and encouraging others to consider taking the plunge, is one of my missions.
