Eco-nomics are always quantified by numbers.
In late 2012, I was talking with my good friend, Larry Butkovich, DC QC Sales Manager at Fuji Electric North America. We were discussing the market opportunity for the Fuji 25 kW CHAdeMO DC Quick Charger. Aside from the ability to charge a 25 kWh EV battery in less than an hour, this charger is more cost effective to own and operate than a 50 kW unit since demand for power is only one half of the 50 kW and charge times only increase by 25%.
So, what does EV 10,000 Canada have in common with the 25 Kw DC QC?
One key point Larry made during our conversation was the fact that there were now 10,000 EV's with a CHAdeMO Plug in the US that need a place to charge. Fuji needed that number 10,000 to start investing in the North America EV market and that milestone has now been reached.
In Canada, we have just passed the 10,000 EV total so it's also an important milestone here. I believe that the 10,000 EV's will multiply to 20,000 this time next year. I'm very positive minded and I drive electric. P.S. I was also there at EV 10,000 Canada and could sense the enthusiasm for the future of these vehicles!
