The Toronto Auto Show hit town this month and it was great to see so many "green" vehicles on display, even though most of them were actually white or blue. :-)
They ranged from the really tiny "Ripley's Believe It or Not" Peel P50 microcar that makes even the smart ED seem really spacious; through popular vehicles like the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt and Kia Soul; to a wide range of practical hybrids including more PEHVs; and on to dramatic sports cars like the BMW i8 or the Porsche Panamera. Lots of interest was generated by Chevy's new Bolt concept car that promises 200+ miles at a price near $30,000 and Hyundai's Tucson Fuel Cell Vehicle that is going to be tested soon in the Vancouver area.
Anywhere at the show where there was an electric vehicle, people were asking lots of questions about them, and when they heard we were already driving EVs, we heard the standard "How far does it go?", and "How long does it take to charge?" and "What about winter driving?"
Clearly the interest in EVs is continuing to grow, so we encourage you to share your stories. What do you drive? What has your experience been? What do you like? What hasn't worked out as you hoped? Join the EV Life movement and become a contributor today.
I had the good fortune to coordinate an EV show on July 24 and 25 of 2015. It was held to celebrate our new public Level II chargers that are located at Country Grocer, Island Savings and Mobys Marine Pub and Oyster Bar.
