While there were lots of interesting vehicles at the Toronto Auto Show this year, I was most interested in searching out any EVs that were on display.
I had seen pictures and video of the Toyota i-ROAD, so was very keen to see one in person. It isn't until you are up close, but not too personal as you couldn't actually touch or sit in it, that you get a sense of how small something like the i-ROAD really is. It looks more like a motorbike with an enclosed canopy, reminding me more of the 3-wheeled ELF than any type of car.
The technology looks great with the i-ROAD's ability to keep balanced, upright and handle corners with optimal lean and two front wheels that move up and down independently. It looks like fun to drive and would really fit in places where there is the right focus on more efficient personal mobility transportation. That means that it's unlikely we'll ever see these around Toronto so I suppose I'll need that trip to Japan if I ever want to drive one.
